Top 5 Gifts For Special Needs Children 2

gifst for special needs childrenWhether it’s for Christmas, Channukah, Kwanzaa, Ramadan, Birthdays or any other special occasion, I know how hard it can be to find gifts for special needs children. Whether it is for your own child or a gift for someone else. Wouldn’t it be great if you could find something that you know they would like and also maybe be able to operate, or at least enjoy sounds and lights?

In this post, I’m going to show and review different types of gifts and the most important part is that have been tried, tested and recommended by other mothers with Hydranencephaly children or similar conditions.

You don’t always have to invest a small fortune in ‘special needs toys’ in order to satisfy your child.  There are plenty of ‘regular’ toys online that your child can get years of fun from.

So with no further ado let’s get started……

1. Infantino Sparkle Lights and Sounds Musical Touch Pad

This looks like a fun one and is easy for little fingers to activate.  It also comes in a boys version and is sure to help with cause and effect reaction.

It looks like an iPad with its stylish design and size and has fourteen songs and sound effects.  Could definitely be a hit for our kids.

It operates using 3 AAA batteries which are included.  Operating times are estimated at 720 hours, which is pretty good going.  It weighs in at 2.4 pounds making it pretty light weight to take on trips or use in the car.

It earned a 3.3 out of 5 stars by people who bought this product.

2. Fisher-Price Bright Beats Smart Touch Play Space

Judging by the reviews that this toy got it looks pretty amazing.

It has coloured lights, great beat music, spoken phrases, teaches ABC’s, counting and numbers.  Although our children may look like they don’t understand……believe me they understand EVERYTHING!  They just don’t communicate.  This is definitely a toy that provides a lot of stimulation. It should actually be sold especially for children with disabilities as it has the potential to help them so much.

Requires four size C batteries and they are NOT included

It earned a 4.3 out of 5 stars by people who bought this product

3. Fisher-Price Bright Beats Dance & Move BeatBo

This BeatBo’s grid like tummy lights up and plays music which gets him moving and dancing with head nodding and hips waggling.  Sure fire way to get our special kids giggling from delight 🙂  He also sings ABC’s, Counting, Colours and more…

I was told by one of my friends who has a son with Hydro that this toy can be switch adapted as well.  You can buy the switches separately online.

Coming from the house of Fisher-Price this toy is bound to satisfy your quality requirements.  It also won an award for being the infant/toddler toy of the year.

Requires four AA (LR6) alkaline batteries for operation.

It earned a 4.5 out of 5 stars by people who bought this product

4. Towel Warmer

This product speaks for itself.  There is nothing like coming out of the bath tub and being wrapped in a nice warm towel.  Since our kids are so sensitive to cold this could definitely help in those winter months when it is so easy to catch a cold.  I didn’t know this existed until it was recommended to me recently and is definitely something that I’d like to invest in for Natan Shai.

It has a sleek design and can accommodate two X-Large sized towels.  It heats up towels within 10 minutes to 120 degrees (F). It can also be used for blankets and bathrobes. Definitely a special original kind of present.

SoundSOUL Water Dancing Speakers Light Show Water Fountain Speakers LED Speakers

Last but certainly not least on our recommended products list today are these amazing speakers which our kids LOVE.  I have had feedback from so many Mom’s who tell me that they are totally amazing.

They can be attached to PC, Television or Stereo and make for the ultimate visual, hearing and artistic stimulation.  There are 4 different coloured led lights and water which moves around like a fountain.  The lights and water display a change in relation to the music. All the materials used are non-toxic.

It earned a 4..1 out of 5 stars by people who bought this product

There are plenty more toys which would make perfect gifts for our special kids.  Here I have given you some of the favourites that I know of which have been recommended by mothers like myself.  The truth is, I live in Israel so it is a problem for me to get these toys shipped over here, and although we do have some of them, most are unavailable.  So if you are in the States then take advantage of the wonderful collection you have to choose from.   Just click on any of the pictures to see more information about the product.

I’d love to hear from you about your own personal favourite toys for your kids so please leave a comment below and let me know!

Much love,

Hannah

    Hi Hannah,
thank you for sharing your story on little Nathan. He is a very dear and special child that has gone through so much in his life. I commend you and your family for taking him in and giving him all the care and love that you all do. I have really been touched by this story and I am very sure this it will remain with me perhaps forever.

    Regards,
