Large Floor Changing Mat REVIEW
One of the biggest issues I’ve been having whilst going out and about with Natan Shai is ‘where I am going to change him.?’ Unfortunately, although there are some public bathrooms equipped for special needs children, most of them are not.
And the chances of finding one is pretty remote. If your child is also not able to go to the bathroom by himself then I’m sure you can relate to what I’m talking about. It’s bad enough trying to find some kind of private place to change him, but the biggest problem is what to change him on. So when I found this quite large floor changing mat which folds up to be very compact I thought I’d give it a go.
It’s not made especially for special needs kids so it’s not a huge changing mat. But it is certainly large enough to do the job and covers the under-diaper area. It also has the added bonus that it’s really not expensive because as we all know if it was made ‘especially’ for special needs kids then it would be at least double or triple the price. It really makes me quite mad that things for Natan Shai are so expensive. So when I find something that works for him and isn’t classified as ‘special needs equipment’ then I like to share
On The Go
This full body changing pad (when mentioning the full body, the meaning is obviously the size of a babies body), is perfect if you need to change your child’s diaper whilst ‘on the go’. It provides a sterile environment which is germ-free for both the child and parent. It is very compact and can fold up to be put in any travel bag and has a strap to attach diapers or wipes. It is fully waterproof as well. I recommend putting one in your bag and one in the car so you’re always ready to change your child whilst out and about.
The fact that it is not washing machine compatible is not really a problem as it can also be spot cleaned under the tap and scrubbed as much as necessary. I suppose the reason for not machine washing would be so that the plastic doesn’t get torn.
One of the things I did notice is that the black one is much less expensive than the colored ones. Besides the fact that they are different in color, I personally didn’t notice any difference besides that. So if the color isn’t really an issue for you then go for the black one.
So if you’re looking for a great inexpensive changing mat that can be easily transported and takes up very little room in your bag then you’ve definitely reached the right place. With just a click of the button this mat can be yours!
