One of the best things I ever bought for Natan Shai was his iPad. It opened up a whole new world of communication for him as well as being a great form of entertainment. Today I am going to review this iPad and tell you all about how an iPad for kids with special needs can enhance their learning capabilities and open doors that you never knew could be opened. So, with no further ado, let’s take a look…
Apple iPad Air 2 64GB, Wi-Fi – Is This A Good Choice For Your Special Needs Child? – Review
I bought this exact same iPad for Natan Shai about two years ago. I was a little apprehensive at first because I wasn’t sure how he would manage it and what exactly he would be able to do with it. I needn’t have worried because he LOVES it and there are applications for every age group and various ability levels.
So if you are also concerned about your child’s abilities to operate the iPad I can assure you that there are so many different things you can use it for that you will be pleasantly surprised.
Besides using the various applications and games, we also use it as a way for Natan Shai to communicate with us and tell us what he did in school. His teacher uses it to take pictures and videos of various activities throughout the day and then when he comes home he is eager for us to take it out of his bag so he can ‘tell’ us what he did during the day.
You may be a bit concerned about the high price of this product, this was also a big issue for me, but Apple’s technology and guarantee proved to be worth the expense of buying a genuine Apple product. It really is the Mercedez of the tech world.
Of course, a bulky extreme duty case like the Griffin Survivor is most definitely a must to protect your iPad if you are going to let your child or other children operate this by themselves.
- The Apple iPad Air 2 is extremely light
- Robust A8X chip with 64-bit architecture
- High-definition 9.7-inch screen
- Advanced optic 8 mp camera
- Speakers with oversized sound capability
- Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating
- 1080p HD video recording (30 fps)
- Finger sensor for ultimate security
Personally, I find this iPad Air to be extremely easy to handle and operate, very lightweight (even with the heavy duty case which I always keep it in). It takes great quality pictures and video. Really lives up to the Apple name.

What To Watch Out For When Buying An iPad For Kids With Special Needs:
What you do need to make sure is that you are buying an iPad with ample space. This is because unfortunately, you can’t add a memory card to Apple products. So if you decide to buy the 16gb then that is what you’ll have to work with. If you plan on using the iPad to take a lot of pictures and videos then I would highly recommend a larger memory. Either 32gb or 64gb.
The other thing that I also mentioned above is to make sure that the iPad you choose has a tough shock-proof cover to keep it safe from spills and falls. These covers are a little on the expensive side but well worth the investment. Some of them are even 100% water proof.
Also if you decide to buy a refurbished iPad then make sure you check out the warranty and make sure you have at least a year. Usually, Apple products are very reliable but since you don’t know exactly the history of a refurbished one then I feel that this is a point that needs to be carefully considered when buying one second-hand.
Where To Buy?
I totally recommend buying through Amazon as they have such a great sales team reputation, super fast delivery time and return policy. You can also save around 33% on opened box or pre-owned devices. Amazon also offers various finance options.
My conclusion is that the Apple iPad Air 2 is most certainly one of the best tablets out there. I fully recommend buying this product and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
